Amazing location and host made us feel so welcome as we spent Christmas there. They even went so far as to leave us some decorations to set up so my toddler could feel the holiday magic. House had everything you could need and being able to walk straight to the beach made this one of the most special vacations we have ever taken as a family! Highly recommend!

What more can you ask for: Incredible location, crashing waves, clean and fully functional house that sleeps up to 12. We were blessed to rent this house for Christmas 2025 for a family vacation and it exceeded all of our expectations. The Hosts were very responsive and accommodating. Everything was perfect.

We loved everything about this home-- From the giant picture window in the living room with waves crashing in the distance, to the sunrises and sunsets from the back porch, kitchen amenities and comfortable beds! We easily signed into our youtube TV account through the Roku TV to get the football game & New Years Eve party coverage. We slept like a rock the whole week we there. There are plenty of games, puzzles, cards, dice etc. to keep you from getting bored on rainy/windy days! Every restaurant we ate at in town was fantastic, too! We even participated in a New Years Day Polar Plunge right in front of this house on the beach- it was so fun! The town works hard to maintain all the beauty this beach holds. Book it, you won't regret it!

Great property!I've already submitted two reviews, so I will keep this to things that need some work:1. Loose floorboard on the back porch, on the right side on teh way out--under the rocking chairs.2. The comforters on the king beds are too small--we borrowed from the queen bed in the adjacent room to get adequate coverage on our bed. An extra blanket would be nice too, for covering legs at night.3. We brought dark covers for the windows, because we saw from the photos that there were only blinds, and we had a two-year-old who still naps. Some light-blocking curtains would be really nice, since the sun comes up so early, especially on the eastern side.4. We love the arrangement of 2 bedrooms and a bath on each side, but a French door at the entrance to them would help keep down noise in the bedrooms.5. In the bathroom on the west side (right side), the weather-stripping is falling off the shower. It might be worthwhile to say that the beach is somewhat steep and short here. Or maybe not!

Our family had the best time at The Wave Rider. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind (even with 2 little kids). I feel as though we went at the perfect time of year. The weather wasn’t too hot but not too cold either. The ocean was a little chilly but the kids seemed to enjoy it. The beach was so quiet that at times we had the whole beach to ourselves! The house is so clean and beautifully decorated. It comes with a fully applianced kitchen so you just need food and drinks. Dave and Kate even provide games, puzzles and movies so there’s plenty to do even on rainy days. Even though the houses are close together, it still felt very peaceful and private. Plus you can’t beat the view!

I spent a weekend at Wave Rider and had a fantastic time. There was more than enough room for all 7 people to stay comfortably. It’s tastefully decorated, the beds are comfortable, it’s very clean, and it had everything we needed. The location is everything! There’s nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves and being able to wake up and watch the sunrise over the ocean right from the porch. It’s far enough removed that it feels like you have a private stretch of beach, but close enough to town that you can zip over to the grocery store or great bars and restaurants in just a couple minutes. I would highly recommend this house for your next vacation!

My gf and I needed a mid winter escape and after looking at budget and travel time found Oak Island, NC. We rented Wave Rider for a week. What a great decision. The place just has vibe or positive karma surrounding it. Its posh but not boujee'. You dont worry about sitting on the "fancy stuff". Its an upgraded cozy. Small but large. Kitchen was stacked with the good stuff. Heavy silverware, new appliances, dishes all quality. The mattresses are comfy, pillows are quality. And the deck....fantastic. Already looking to book again next winter! We will be in that house for years to come! Wave Rider has def feel of a big place, in a place that is not huge. The feel of a ritzy place that isnt super ritzy and a comfort level that is amazing. Thank you so much for accepting our booking!
