This quaint and cozy 2nd-row beach cottage is not only perfectly located for your beach vacation with the public beach access just 3 houses down and Ocean Crest Pier right nearby, but also comes with a lot of amazing history! The home was named Hazel for her incredible strength and might during Hurricane Hazel which devastated Oak Island in 1954. This home was one of only five homes on the entire island that survived the storm. The original solid cinder blocks with which the home was built in 1953 are still intact. Hazel was completely and lovingly restored in 2020, offering you all the modern conveniences you are used to in a nice and comfortable space to call home while you relax at the beach. You will want nothing here! An expansive screened porch, in-ground pool (with pool heating available for an additional fee), and enclosed outdoor shower were also added during the 2020 renovations. You are sure to love the privacy fence surrounding the pool where you can lounge to your heart's content without all the sand. From the pool area, you can access the lower level of the home where you will find a half bathroom and ping-pong table. After gathering your fresh catch from a relaxing day of fishing out on the beach or at the Ocean Crest Pier, you can come back and grill out the best seafood you've ever tasted! Sit back on the comfortable screened porch and enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of good old southern sweet tea to witness the most spectacular Oak Island sunrises and sunsets painting the sky. Plenty of seating for everyone! If you feel like getting out, there are lots to do and see on and around Oak Island. Don’t forget the Summer Concerts at Middleton Park, just a few minute drive away. Unfortunately our week's stay was during tropical storm Debby and the week was pretty much a washout. That said, we were very pleased with Hazel. The kitchen was thoroughly equipped with what we needed to eat in every night and we enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch, until the rain got too hard. We enjoyed the one full day of sun relaxing in the nice pool which is completely fenced in for privacy. We're look forward to staying here ,again, during better weather

The location of this house was awesome, just a short 3 minute walk to the beach! The pool and house were a perfect size for our family of 5, and the screened in front porch was clutch for sitting on every night to listen to the ocean and feel the breeze. Would highly recommend!
